As part of our commitment to celebrate World Diabetes Day and as Western Australia’s peak diabetes research funding group, we invite you join us to unveil our newly-funded research projects for 2020.

Our free breakfast kicks off at 7.15am on November 14 at the UWA Water Sports Complex, 9 Hackett Drive in Crawley. Parking is available just outside.

The event will showcase the two winning research projects for 2020, each of which are being funded with $60,000 research grants made possible thanks to community donations.meet these amazing minds at our research reveal breakfast, november 14, crawley, wa.jpg

As well, Dr Aveni Haynes from the Telethon Kids Institute will speak about the progress of her Diabetes Research WA-funded world first project using continuous glucose monitoring technology.

This study maps the blood sugar patterns of children at risk of type 1 diabetes and could inform future prevention strategies aimed at reversing, delaying or preventing the development of this condition.

And fellow 2019 grant winner Professor Kevin Pfleger from the Perkins Institute, will discuss his latest research into a molecule called RAGE, which could be used as a target to limit the complications of type 2 diabetes developing.

Six world class researchers in one place, that's pretty impressive!

A short Q&A will follow each presentation so bring along a notepad to jot your questons down.
