Latest local breakthroughs revealed for national diabetes week
Local scientists advancing the global search for better treatments and tests for type 1 and 2 diabetes will unveil their latest discoveries at a National Diabetes Week talk in Nedlands next month.
Perth charity Diabetes Research WA is hosting the seminar presented by preeminent WA diabetes researcher Professor Grant Morahan.
The public address, entitled Local Researchers Changing Lives, will discuss a number of projects including islet cell development, and the creation of a test that could predict a person’s chance of developing type 1 diabetes, as well as a person’s risk of developing particular diabetic complications.
You will also be able meet with the 'Hope in a Boat' crew who are on an epic journey riding around Australia in 80 days towing a boat and trailer behind 2 Goldwing motorbikes to raise funds for our research!!
Local Researchers Changing Lives is on at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research on Thursday July 10 at 10am.
The Institute is in block QQ of QEII Medical Centre, 6 Verdun Street, Nedlands.
