  • Over 50% of our funding comes from bequests.
  • 80% of our funds go to research

Leaving a gift to Diabetes Research WA in your Will ensures we can continue to conduct vital research into all aspects of diabetes.

We take the responsibility of ensuring bequeathed funds are quickly and effectively directed towards diabetes research. Through some significant bequests, we have been able to expand our research focus in recent years.

Things to consider when making a Will:

Will Preparation

The making of a Will is an important document that ensures your wishes are respected and are carried out by the person (Executor/Trustee) of your choice. A Will need not be expensive or complex. You may wish to leave sentimental items to particular members of your family or friends and you can make contributions to certain causes that are dear to you and your family.

Here are some examples of wording you can use in the preparation of a Will incorporating specific and residuary gifts:

Money gift:

I give ................dollars ($..........) to the Diabetes Research Foundation of WA Incorporated ABN 43 743 957 408, trading as Diabetes research WA ("ResearchWA") of Level 3 Ainslie House, 48 Murray Street, Perth WA 6000 for its general purposes and I declare the receipt of the Treasurer or Secretary, for the time being, of Research WA is a sufficient discharge to my Executor(s) in respect of the gift to Research WA.

Special gift:

I give my....................(insert description of property) o the Diabetes Research Foundation of WA Incorporated ABN 43 743 957 408, trading as Diabetes research WA ("ResearchWA") of Level 3 Ainslie House, 48 Murray Street, Perth WA 6000 for its general purposes and I declare the receipt of the Treasurer or Secretary, for the time being, of Research WA is a sufficient discharge to my Executor(s) in respect of the gift to Research WA.

Residuary gift:

I give................percent (.........%) of the residue of my estate to the Diabetes Research Foundation of WA Incorporated ABN 43 743 957 408, trading as Diabetes research WA ("ResearchWA") of Level 3 Ainslie House, 48 Murray Street, Perth WA 6000 for its general purposes and I declare the receipt of the Treasurer or Secretary, for the time being, of Research WA is a sufficient discharge to my Executor(s) in respect of the gift to Research WA.
